Partnership in Education

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad and Tobago (ICATT) was established in 1970 with the aim of regulating the accountancy profession and providing training for accountants. Since 2005, ICATT has partnered with the ACCA to offer professional education and qualifications in accountancy. Under this partnership, the ACCA provides education programs at the Foundation and professional ACCA levels. These qualifications are globally accepted and locally recognized as relevant training for operating in our diverse finance and business sectors. Students must register with both the Institute and the ACCA, and successful completion of the ACCA exams satisfies the exam criteria for membership in both ICATT and the ACCA.

In June 2010, ICATT renewed its Joint Examination Scheme Agreement with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) for another five-year term, positioning ICATT as the local administrator of ACCA's educational programs and examinations in Trinidad and Tobago for its Professional and Technician students, numbering approximately 4, 000. The agreement was signed between ACCA's Regional Director for Europe and Americas, Mr. Roger Acton, and the then ICATT President, Mr. Anthony Pierre. Subsequent renewals of this Agreement and the Service Orders for its implementation ended in 2019.

In December 2021, the Council entered into a new partnership agreement with ACCA for three years. The agreement was signed between ACCA's Marketing Director - Partnership and Relations, Mr. Stephen Shields, and the then ICATT President, Mrs. Denise Chinpire-O'Reilly. Discussions are being held with ACCA to renew the same agreement under similar terms.

ICATT and the ACCA are in discussions to agree on a new partnership arrangement to maintain support for jointly serviced students and create greater alignment with ICATT's strategic objectives for the growth and development of the Institute as a regulator and professional accountancy organization. ICATT maintains support for students of the partnership.
